Roger Penrose in The Road to Reality

I am no way suggesting that we should abandon the essential beautiful insights of electroweak theory, but I prefer a slightly different attitude to the breaking of its U(2) symmetry from that which is usually put forward. As I see it, Nature´s true scheme for particle physics has not yet come to light. Such scheme should be mathematically consistent and will not have the nasty habit that our present day QFT´s have, of spitting out the answer ‘∞’ to so many reasonable phrased physical questions.
